Women of the Dream, Inc.
Women of the Dream, Inc. is a 501-C-3 organization that provides program services to girls in grades 7-12 in Camden, NJ. Our model is school-based in that program services are coordinated and implemented through partnerships with Camden’s public schools, and all program services occur at schools during school hours.
Our partner schools include two middle schools (Veterans Memorial Family School, and Morgan Village Academy), and four high schools (Creative Arts High School, Camden High School, Big Picture Learning Academy, and Charles Brimm Medical Arts High School). Women of the Dream’s mission is to empower, cultivate and inspire young women in the city of Camden, New Jersey, and beyond to succeed in every aspect of their lives.
Featured Programs
College Prep, Career & Workforce Readiness
Camden, NJ Women of the Dream (WOD) has been awarded a major grant from PNC Bank Foundation to provide college, career development and workforce readiness to high school girls in Camden, NJ. The goal of the year-long program is to prepare girls for college and compete for a wide spectrum of professional careers within the global marketplace.
Life Skills
The life skills program serves girls enrolled in middle and high schools in Camden, NJ schools. The curriculum includes financial literacy, stress management, family relationships, intimate partner relationships, health and wellness, and other relevant topics.
Socially & Culturally Relevant Activities
Socially and culturally relevant activities complement our school-based group discussions with our participants. These activities include a teen empowerment conference and workshops sponsored by other nonprofit organizations; trips to colleges, worksites, and museums; participation in leadership conferences; and an opportunity to meet and network with successful women of color.
Scholarship Program
Women of the Dream’s annual scholarship is open to all senior girls enrolled in Camden’s public, private, and charter high schools. To date, Women of the Dream has provided scholarships to 37 young women. The first cohort of scholarship recipients in 2017 all graduated from college in 2021!
