Close to 50 Women answered the call to Women’s of the Dream Informational Meeting for Prospective Mentors!

Women of the Dream will launch a mentoring program for teen girls who reside in the City of Camden this fall. The mission of Women of the Dream’s mentoring program is to positively impact the community by making a difference in the lives of the young women that will become our future leaders. The program will pair responsible and caring women with girls ages 12-18; benefits include support in the workplace, education and day-to-day living.

On April 13th, Women of the Dream hosted an informational meeting for prospective mentors at Campbell’s Soup Company. The meeting served as an opportunity to provide a clear understanding of the requirements and expectations of mentoring, enabling prospective mentors to make an informed decision of their involvement. The meeting included a host of powerful speakers from Women of the Dream’s partners including Beth Jolly, Chief of Staff to CEO & President of Campbell’s Soup Company Denise Morrison, Nyeema Watson, Assistant Chancellor for Civic Engagement at Rutgers University-Camden, Andrea Lawful, Chair of South P.A. CARES Mentoring, and the Honorable Dana L. Redd, Mayor, City of Camden. Stephen Powell, Chief Program Officer, National CARES Mentoring Movement, lead an empowering discussion on the importance, best practices and considerations for launching a mentoring initiative or program. Several of Women of the Dream’s current mentees spoke about what their experiences with the program and how they’ve benefited from being involved with Women of the Dream, and encouraged the prospective mentors to join Founder & CEO, Leslie Morris in making a difference in their peers’ lives.

Close to 50 women from South Jersey and Philadelphia attended the April 13th meeting, committing to involvement with Women of the Dream and moving to the next step in the mentoring process. If you would like to support one of our young women as a mentor, please contact Leslie Morris at leslie.morris@womenofthedream.org.
